New Hope/Buffalo Primitive Baptist Church formed from the High Bluff Church. It was originally located in Wayne County near Charlton COunty. (Sometimes referred to as Hickox Church.)

Research Plan

New Hope Primitive Baptist Church (New Hope) is believed to located in South Eastern Georgia, and is the final resting place of several individuals who appear to have been members of the church. Learning more specifics, such as it’s actual location, date of founding, members attended, and date of dissolution (if applicable) not only provides background information for the lives of individuals who were members of the church, but it could provide other clues for further research. For example, it may give us new avenues of research to locate the final resting places of family members who are known to have died before the founding New Hope and are not buried with their family members.

Questions to be researched:

  • Where is New Hope located?
  • When was New Hope founded?
  • Who is known to have attended or been a member of New Hope?
  • Is the church still active? If not, when was it dissolved?
