Typography[1]

  • Main Person in Boldface Caps and Small Caps.
  • Children in Regular Caps and Small Caps
  • Grandchildren, when listed, in italics.
  • Lineage line in italics with general number nonitalic (Ebeneezer4, John3-2, Percival1). Combine generational number when successive ancestors have the same given name.

Personal Names

  • C. P.Frenyear: Space Between Initials, but not full name.
    • When transcribing use the formatting on the document
  • Mary Louise "Lou" Smith: nickname inside quotation marks, after the middle name
  • John Smith Jr: no comma before Jr. or Sr.
  • John Smith III, John Smith IV: no commas before roman numerals.
  • Mary (Smith) Doe: maiden names within parenthesizes
  • Mary (Smith) (Doe) Roe: space between the two sets of parentheses, listed in order of the marriage.
  • John _____: five underscores for unknown names
  • Mary Smith [?]: question marks inside brackets to denote unknown names
  • Mary Smith/Smyth: alternate spellings seperated by slash

Guidelines

  • Include all major life events, such as birth, death, marriage, occupation, and anything else uncovered troug research.
  • All claims should be sourced. (see Sourcing)
  • Images can be used as appropriate, but should not overshadow the text.
  • the Discussion and Notes section should be used to provide context and information about a fact presented in the Biographical Sketch when needed.

  • Use wiki links whenever possible
  • Use semantic tags whenever possible

Creating a page for a new individual

  1. Search for the individual at TNG site
  2. In the search results click the name of the individual
  3. click the document icon to the right of the individuals name
  4. click create page
  5. select "new individual" from the drop down.
