Irwin, Jr}}., 89, of {{has location|city=Spearfish|state=South Dakota|alt=Spearfish|alt page=Spearfish, South Dakota}}, passed away on {{has date|April 5, 2011}} at Sturgis Regional Hospital in {{has location|city=Sturgis|state=South Dakota|alt=Sturgis|alt page=Sturgis, South Dakota}}.

Visitation will be from 2-4 P.M. on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 11, 2011 at All Angel’s Episcopal Church in Spearfish with {{has person|Bunker Hill|Father Bunker Hill}} officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at [[Black Hills National Cemetery]] near Sturgis. A memorial has been established to benefit All Angel’s Episcopal Church.

Harry J. Irwin, Jr. was born to {{has person|Harry Joseph Irwin Sr|Harry}} and {{has person|Stella Burk|Stella (Burke) Irwin}} in {{has location|city=Bayonne|state=New Jersey}} on {{has date|November 1, 1921}}. He attended [[Bayonne High School]], graduating in {{has date|1938}}.

He enlisted in the US Navy on {{has date|October 20, 1942}}, serving as an AMM2/c machinist mate in the Pacific Island theater supporting naval aircraft operations, and was discharged on {{has date|October 30, 1945}}. Harry met his future wife, Audrey Larson, at a USO dance and they were married on {{has date|June 28th, 1946}}. Graduating from the Aeronautical University, Chicago, Illinois, with a BS degree in aeronautical engineering he worked at numerous aerospace and aircraft manufacturing companies including Astronautics in {{has location|city=San Diego |state=California|alt=San Diego, CA|alt page=San Diego, California}}, Hiller Aircraft in {{has location|city=San Jose|state=California|alt=San Jose, CA|alt page=Stan Jose, California}}, finishing his career with 24 years of service at the FAA in {{has location|city=Long Beach|state=California|alt=Long Beach, CA|alt page=Long Beach, California}}.

After Harry and Audrey’s retirements they resettled to {{has location|city=Spearfish|state=South Dakota|alt=Spearfish, South Dakota|alt page=Spearfish, South Dakota}} in 1990 and enjoyed their time together in the Black Hills area where Audrey was born and grew up.

Harry’s hobbies included woodworking, gardening, and especially HAM radio, an area he enjoyed throughout the latter part of his life with the friendships developed among his fellow HAM’s.

He is survived by his daughter {{has person|Donna Irwin|alt=Donna Francis}}, husband {{has person|Robert Francis|Robert}}, {{has location|city=Las Vegas|state=Nevada|alt=Las Vegas, NV|alt page=Las Vegas, Navada}}, son {{has person|Patrick Irwin}} , wife {{has person|Laura Irwin}}, {{has location|city=Mesa|state=Arizona|alt=Mesa, AZ|alt page=Mesa, Arizona}}, son {{has person|Kristofer Irwin|alt=Kristofer}}, {{has location|city=Oakhurst|state=California|alt=Oakhurst, CA|alt page=Oakhurst, California}}, and grandchildren {{has person|Steven Francis}}, {{has person|Katharine Francis}}, {{has person|Shannon Irwin}}, and {{has person|Samantha Irwin}}. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Audrey.
