Biographical Sketch

Micajah Crews was born in South Carolina, Feb. 10, 1810 a son of Alexander and Lucy Crews. His parents moved to lower Wayne County in Georgia in 1820, and he grew up in Wayne and Camden counties and lived in that section until his death.

Micajah Crews lived in the 590th district of Ware County but was cut off into Pierce County in its creation in 1858. This territory is now in Brantley County. Mr. Crews died at his home near Hickox, Oct. 3, 1877. He and his wife are buried at old High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church

Micajah served in the Indian War as a private under Capt. James Jones in 1840.

In 1844 Micajah was baptized into an "arm" of High Bluff Primative Baptist Church, at "the Buffalo", and was dismissed by letter Jan. 11, 1845, to unite in constituting a new church there which is now the church at Hickox, Ga. <refname="Wiregrass Pioneers" />
