Born in Charlton County her parents were the late Joseph and Nora Crews Carter. She is also preceded in death by her husband Rev. William F. Allen and grandparents Rayford Carter and Sally Hendrix Crews, two sisters, Pauline Harris and Dorothy Thrift, and one brother, Junior Carter.

A member of Bachlott Church of God, Ms. Mabel was a home maker and loved helping others, cooking for preachers and selling dinners to help build churches.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Hickox of Nahunta, one son and daughter-in-law, Bishop Joseph “Buddy” Allen and Vivian, of Nahunta, a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Bradley Lee, of Folkston, four grandchildren, Sonny Hickox of Nahunta, Tanya Nettles (Mike) of Nahunta, Kim Lee (Rev. Lamar) of Baxley, Joe Allen (Kay) of Nahunta, nine great grandchildren, Chase, Gage, and Payton Nettles, Landon, Lee, and Logan Lee, Allen and Kaden Allen and Kaylee Hall. Also several Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation was held at 6 p.m. March 10 at the Chambless-Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta. Funeral services were held March 11 at 2 p.m. from The Bachlott Church of God with Rev. Ion Johns and Rev. Wilbur Dean officiating.

Burial followed in the family plot at Bachlott Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gordon C. Johns, Lamar Johns, Charles Allen, Gage Nettles, Chase Nettles, and Mike Nettles.
