Mr. Simon Peter O’Berry, 70, of Kingsland passed away at his home February 23, 2008.

Mr. O’Berry is a native of Atkinson County. He was born in Axson, Georgia on September 5, 1937 and was raised in Millwood.

He is the son of the late Wilson Carter (WC) and Odessa Spikes O’Berry. Mr. O’Berry attended school at Mt. Green in Millwood.

He was the service station manager of Brown’s Gulf Service Station for over 20 years.

Mr. O’Berry was married to Linda Nell Scott O’Berry on December 23, 1961. They shared 45 years of love together until her passing in 2006.

Mr. O’Berry was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. O’Berry will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Mr. O’Berry is survived by his children and their spouses, Odessa Louise Byrd of Kingsland, Felicia Lynn Spence of Kingsland, Veronica Nell and Foster McNabb of Waynesville, Thomas “Tommy” Conner and Angie O’Berry of Kingsland, Wilson “Joe Bo” Carter O’Berry of Colesburg, Samuel Pete and Cindy O’Berry of Folkston, Ricky Dale O’Berry of Kingsland, Frances Crews of Hoboken, Bobby Jean Spikes of Blackshear, Maryann Spikes of Hoboken and Amy Crawford of Blackshear; his siblings and their spouses, Jaqueline and Levi Johns of Homerville, Lucy and Sampson Lee of Waresboro, Agnes Womack of Waycross, Rondal and Linda O’Berry of Millwood, and Bobby and Meryl Jean Spikes of Hickox; plus 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife, Mr. O’Berry was preceded in death by his grandson, Jeremy Christopher O’Berry.

Visitation was held at the Funeral Home February 26, 2008 at 6 p.m.

Funeral services were held in the Edo Miller Camden Chapel at 10 a.m. on February 27, with the Reverend Reginald Herrin officiating.

Casket bearers will be Wayne Lairison, Jr., Paul Simon O’Berry, Jason Carter O’Berry, Brian O’Berry, Chuck Byrd, Todd Carter, Anthony O’Berry, Adam O’Berry, Travis O’Berry, and Dalton O’Berry. Honorary bearers will be Pat Morgan and James Baron.

Funeral services followed by a graveside committal at 2 p.m., February 27, at Indian Mound Cemetery in Millwood. Reverend Clayton Davis will preside.

Edo Miller Funeral Home Camden Chapel in Kingsland is in charge of arrangements.
