Oscar J. Hickox Dies Monday In Atlanta Oscar J. Hickox, 71, of Brunswick died Monday at Kennesaw Hospital near Atlanta after an extended ill- ness. Memorial services were held to- day at 3 p.m. in Marietta. Graveside rites will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Greenlawn Cemetery near Waycross. The Rev. Dan Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Harry Pier- son, Jimmy Hodges, Donald Tatum, Ray Bailey, Walt Murray and Jon Murray. Honorary pallbearers will be: Judge Ronald Adams, Dr. W.O. Inman, Dr. Jack Arnie, Dr. William Nicholson, Dr. Salem Osta, Dr. Ken Rutledge, employees of Brunswick Pulp and Paper Co. The family will Be at Chapman Funeral Chapel Thursday from 7:30 until 9 p.m. The family requests that those wishing make memorial contribu- tions to a favorite charity. Surviving are his wife, Mary C. Hickox of Brunswick; a daughter, Tootsie. Murray of Marietta; two sons, David Hickox of Marietta and Capt. John Hickox, U.S. Navy, Burke Center, Va.; four brothers, Homer Hickox of Brunswick, H.V. "Sonny" Hickox of Pineview, La., Claude Hickox of Hoboken and Mor- ris Hickox of Englewood, Fla.; two sisters, Nan Walker of Salisbury, N.C., and Carrie Lee Gunter of Nahunta; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A native of Hoboken, he had lived in Brunswick for the past 48 years. He was a member of the First Pres- byterian Church. He was retired from Brunswick Pulp and Paper Co. as a millwright. He was instrumen- tal in starting the Credit Union at Brunswick Pulp and Paper Co.' and was a union organizer. Chapman Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
