Biographical Sketch

Born James Randal Crews, latter went by Jimmie H. Crews, on 3 March 1923, to Ira? Crews and Allie? Crews[1]. It's not known if or when exactly James changed his name, but at some point he started going by Jimmie H. Crews, which is the name he used until his death. He died 16 February 1998[2].

Enlistment records indicate Jimmie most likley enlisted as a private in the army in 11 Apr 1944. However, the date of birth listed on the enlistment documents does not match the date of birth found on his birth certificate. Without further research we cannot be certain this is the correct enlistment information.

James married Myrtie Lee Sikes. Myrtie (daughter of Joseph Sikes and Augusta Lucinda Hickox) was born 17 Feb 1924, Bryceville, Nausau, Florida, United States; died 24 Oct 2011; buried 29 Oct 2011, Sardis Cemetery, Folkston, Charlton County, Georgia.

Homestead

Jimmie purchased the land in two tracts from John W.Buchanan after his death in what appears to be a sale by the City of Folkston on 8 Jul 1949.

Jimmie built the house himself and few years later and it was completed by the early 1950's. It is still standing today, and is where Delana currently resides.

In May 1987, Jimmie divided the deeded the land to his children. Since then Ricky, Janice, Letrelle have taken up residence on their pacells, where they still live today.

Death

Jimmie died 16 Feb 1998, Folkston, Charlton County, Georgia; buried Sardis Cemetery, Folkston, Charlton County, Georgia.
